Barcelona are reportedly introducing a salary cap on future new signings in what could price them out of lucrative transfers.
The Blaugrana are in a difficult situation financially and posted debts of £1.16 billion not too long, which has led to a number of wage cuts from the likes of Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba, as well as a slew of big-name departures.

In a constant fight to meet La Liga's financial regulations, Barca have struggled to register players and couldn't add new signing Ferran Torres to their squad at first before the issue was sorted.
But according to Alfred Martinez from SPORT, president Joan Laporta has decided to implement a cap on new additions.
Starting from June 30, Barca will have a fix salary cap of €10 million.

Laporta intends to prevent what happened in the previous mandate from happening again and the salary cost of the workforce from skyrocketing . It could be compensated with some variables to try to bring in big stars, but the salary cap will be that, with NO exceptions.

The idea is to introduce limit wages so that players are not on hefty, unsustainable contracts like before.
It could well prove tough for Barcelona to land some key targets as no doubt an in-demand star Erling Haaland would be commanding a much bigger contract.
However, it's said the Catalan outfit are hopeful they can still attract major players through some variables and performance-related bonuses.

The club have confirmed that on 1 February, at 11am, Laporta will publicly reveal the irregularities in the management under the previous regime.

Josep Maria Bartomeu was at the helm and he is deemed responsible for Barcelona dropping into financial turmoil.
Laporta has already gone on record to disclose some of the huge mistakes - including revealing the club were paying a whopping €8 million to a scout based in South America.
Barca, meanwhile, are reportedly on the verge of signing the largest sponsorship package in football history.
Music streaming giants Spotify are in the frame to take over from Rakuten as the new main shirt sponsor on a five-year deal that could total around €340 million.
Beko, the training kit sponsor, are also set to be displaced by cryptocurrency firm Polkadot.
