David Ornstein reports that Liverpool target, Aurelien Tchouameni has reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid, in a package worth over €100m. Monaco and Real Madrid are now finalising paperwork and the regulatory process before the official confirmation.

The Frenchman has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time now, with the 22 year-old’s striking performances for Monaco and France impressing not only the hierarchy at Anfield, but many of the other top clubs in Europe too.

Tchouameni agreeing a deal with Real Madrid will come as a bit of a kick in the teeth for the Reds, with them not only losing the Champions League to Los Blancos, but also one of their key transfer targets to the Spanish giants.

Naby Keita’s potential departure has Liverpool in need of midfield reinforcement this summer, with a host of players already being linked with a move to the Premier League runner-ups.

Having just missed out on Tchouameni, James Milner’s recently announced contract extension will perhaps be more significant than first thought, with the Reds potentially being stretched thin in the midfield department for next season at this current moment.

Jude Bellingham has recently emerged as a potential target for Liverpool, and having just missed out on Tchouameni, perhaps we will see the Reds seriously ramp up their pursuit for the Dortmund midfielder.

The 18 year-old has numerous clubs interested in him, with his composed performances for England and in the Bundesliga gaining him many admirers. Liverpool may not be able to afford to miss out on the player as they did with Tchouameni, with concrete steps being expected in the next coming days.
