Bundesliga club offer huge contract to "phenomenal" player as Arsenal and Tottenham plot January move

Bundesliga club offer huge contract to "phenomenal" player as Arsenal and Tottenham plot January move

The player has a big decision to make.

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly in the race for the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, with the German club keen to tie him down to a new contract.

Ndicka's current deal is set to expire in the summer, and Arsenal are favourites for his signature as Mikel Arteta seeks defensive cover.

However, the Gunners face competition from Ndicka's current club Eintracht Frankfurt, who are thought to have proposed a new three-year deal, according to Bild. The deal would make him one of the club's biggest earners, alongside Kevin Trapp and Mario Gotze.

Although, it is unlikely the Bundelsiga side will be able to financially compete with what Arsenal can offer.

But that's not all. Bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in signing the 23-year-old, per Italian news outlet Roma Giallorossa, as they hunt a Champions League place. AS Roma and Newcastle are also thought to be keeping tabs on the youngster.

Who is Evan Ndicka?

Paris born Evan Ndicka moved to Germany from French side Auxerre in 2017, and hasn't looked back since.

He has established himself as a regular in the side, recording over 150 appearances and helping the team to lift the Europa League trophy last season. He was later named in the Bundesliga team of the season.

Ndicka, who has featured at every level of France's youth system since under-16, received heaps of praise from former Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter, who said: "I honestly have to say that I was surprised by his development. Evan has developed phenomenally. He's very attentive in the analysis of his own game. He's very modest and always takes a lot on board."

With his future currently in the balance, Arsenal and Tottenham fans will be keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that the 6ft 4in defender will be on their side by the time the North London derby comes around on January 15th.
