Arsenal starting XI vs Newcastle confirmed as key player starts after injury fear

Arsenal have named their starting XI to face Newcastle.

Arsenal have confirmed their starting XI to take on Newcastle in their Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are looking to continue to pile pressure on Manchester City after they defeated Chelsea 3-1 on Wednesday.

The victory ended a run of four games without a win for Mikel Arteta's side, which included a 4-1 loss to City at the Etihad Stadium.

But they take on a Newcastle side that has the best defence in the division this season, having conceded just 27 goals in their 33 matches.

And Eddie Howe's side still have plenty to play for, as they need seven points from their last five games to guarantee Champions League football for next season.

Having won eight of their last nine games, the Magpies present a huge threat to Arsenal - and Arteta has responded to the victory over Chelsea with changes.

The key news for Arsenal is that Gabriel Magalhaes is fit to start the game after limping off against Chelsea due to an ankle problem.

His availability means Arteta makes just one change to the side that beat the Blues, with top league goalscorer Gabriel Martinelli in for Leandro Trossard.

Jorginho keeps his place in the side after Wednesday's victory, making consecutive starts for the second time since signing for the club from Chelsea in January.

Thomas Partey remains on the bench, with Trossard also among the substitutes after starting on Wednesday.

Newcastle, meanwhile, also make one change, with 15-goal striker Callum Wilson - who has scored the same amount as Martinelli this season - back into the side in place of Anthony Gordon.

He will start alongside Alexander Isak in Newcastle's attack, with the Swede having been increasingly impressive in recent months following his full recovery from early season injury issues. The 23-year-old club-record signing has 10 goals from 17 games this term.
