Mykhailo Mudryk opens up on being teased by Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko over Chelsea move

Mykhailo Mudryk opens up on being teased by Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko over Chelsea move

The Chelsea winger has lifted the lid on the pair's relationship.

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has revealed Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko often teases him about his failed move to the Emirates.

Mudryk was on the verge of joining Arsenal in January before Chelsea hijacked the move, signing the Ukranian from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth £88.5 million.

The Gunners fans were left baffled after Mudryk dropped several hints on social media suggesting he was keen on a move to the Premier League leaders.

He has struggled for form at Stamford Bridge, failing to manage a single goal in seven appearances since his arrival.

But despite their London rivalry, Zinchenko and Mudryk will be on the same side when Ukraine take on England in Sunday's Euro 2024 qualifier at Wembley.

Mudryk has since lifted the lid on the pair's relationship, revealing there is no bad blood between them, and they often joke about the situation.

Mudryk: "We often joke about Arsenal"

Discussing his relationship with Zinchenko in an interview with Sky Sports, Mudryk stated: "He helped me a lot. I like him so much. We often joke about Arsenal, Chelsea and what colour is London.

"But I like this guy, he's very funny, very kind guy. We spend some time with him and always in positive vibes."

When asked what colour London is, Mudryk predictably replied: "Blue."

The 22-year-old's comments come shortly after Zinchenko revealed the details of a private conversation the pair shared while on international duty, in which they cleared the air and drew a line under the already notorious transfer saga.

"I told him: 'It's gone already, it doesn't matter what you wanted, what the other guys wanted'," Zinchenko told the Daily Mail.

"Now you're a Chelsea player, you signed a long-term contract and you have only one option, only one way: direct and forward."

Zinchenko added: "Unfortunately he didn't become an Arsenal player – as I wanted personally! - but it's life."
