Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly been very impressed with Marquinhos in recent weeks but is yet to decide whether to loan him out in January.

The 19-year-old made his debut for the Gunners in the Europa League when they beat FC Zurich.

He also started in Arsenal's disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The Brazilian winger has made just one Premier League appearance so far but Arteta has spoken highly of the youngster.

Romano discusses a Marquinhos loan deal

Speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano said: “With regards to a possible loan in January, Arsenal have not decided on Marquinhos yet.

“I think it’s normal to discuss new winger and not to consider Marquinhos ready yet as he’s super young, he just spent few months in England and so he needs to adapt, improve and then become important part of the first team in the future.

“For sure they’re really happy with Marquinhos and his approach also in training.”

Arteta is undecided on Marquinhos future

One dilemma for the Gunners manager is how he is going to deal with the Brazilian's career progression.

Arteta told club media earlier in the season: “I’m very happy with him. He has adapted very well and he’s a really likeable figure in the dressing room and around Colney.

“His language is not great yet but I think his physicality has been pretty exceptional, for someone who has come from Brazil and has a different way to train and play, but he’s done it.

“I think he’s got the qualities for how we want to play. We will keep him here for another few months and make sure that he establishes himself at the club and in the team. Afterwards, we’ll see what the best movement is for his career.”
