Manchester City have the momentum in the title race and two games in hand over Arsenal. But when do they play their extra games?

On Friday, the Gunners could only muster a draw against the Premier League’s bottom club, Southampton.

Indeed, the Saints silenced a raucous Emirates crowd by going two goals ahead after just 15 minutes.

And while Gabriel Martinelli pulled a goal back for Arsenal before the half-time break, Duje Caleta-Car reclaimed Southampton’s two-goal cushion midway through the second half.

The Premier League strugglers were just minutes away from recording their first-ever victory at the Emirates Stadium, only for Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka to dramatically score two late goals for Arsenal.

A 3-3 draw was a disappointing result for both sides. While Southampton had two points snatched away at the last, Arsenal conceded the initiative at the top of the table to City.

The Gunners travel to the Etihad on Wednesday with a five-point advantage over City, though they have played two extra games.

So when will Pep Guardiola’s side play their two games in hand?

The Premier League have not yet confirmed a date for City’s first game in hand against Brighton.

Pep Guardiola’s men were initially set to face the Seagulls on Saturday, April 22, however, the fixture was postponed with both clubs taking part in an FA Cup semi-final.

The Brighton encounter will be tricky to re-schedule, given City have progressed to the Champions League semi-final after a 4-1 aggregate win over Bayern Munich.

Their European exploits mean that City’s game with Brighton will likely take place during the week commencing May 22, which is the last week of the Premier League season.

Meanwhile, City’s other game in hand against West Ham will take place on Wednesday, May 3.
