Arsenal and Liverpool have been given a boost in their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Despite having led the table for the majority of the campaign Arsenal fell short in meeting their ambition of claiming a first Premier League title in 19 years.

In turn, they have been tipped to have a busy summer window, as they attempt to close the gap between them and champions Manchester City.

Their priority target is reportedly Declan Rice, who would cost a reported £100million, while Caicedo is another midfielder the north Londoners are said to be interested in.

Indeed, Arsenal saw two bids worth up to £70million rejected for the 21-year-old in January, but have been tipped to have another bite at the cherry.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also long-standing admirers of Caicedo and have been linked with Ecuador international again ahead of the summer transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp's side have been tipped for a major rebuild in the off-season, having failed to claim any silverware of qualify for the Champions League this term.

And both club’s hopes will be boosted by a “promise” made between Brighton and Caicedo back in January.

Moises Caicedo “promise”

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano Brighton promised Caicedo in January that they would sell him in the summer transfer window rather than mid-way through the season.

Romano tweeted: “Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi told Moises Caicedo in January to stay at the club until June despite huge bids… and then promised to sell him in the summer in case of a good proposal.

“Pact will be respected; Chelsea are still keen on Caicedo but it’s 3 clubs race.”

Indeed, Chelsea are looking to rebuild after a shambolic season in which they finished 12th in the Premier League despite a £600million spend.

While they are interested in Caicedo, they will also need to offload several players from the squad this summer.
