One of the most underrated goals in the Premier League’s entire history was scored by Arsenal back in 2018.

The Gunners, with Unai Emery at the helm, welcomed Claude Puel’s Leicester City to the Emirates stadium.

It was a nervy start by Arsenal as Leicester were on the front foot in the early stages, the Foxes took a well deserved lead in the 31st minute after Hector Bellerin turned Ben Chilwell's low driven cross into his own net.

The goal was a real shock to Arsenal’s system and it subsequently sprung them into life.

Mesut Ozil went on to put in one of the most mesmerising performances anyone has ever produced in Premier League history.

Ozil pulled his side level after some brilliant play with Bellerin on the right hand side, the German tapped home with a clever finish.

Arsenal eventually went in front after Ozil found Bellerin in acres of space with a defence splitting pass, the Spaniard then played it across the box for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to tap home from close range.

Arsenal’s third goal was the pick of the bunch, it was so good that it should go down as one of the best goals ever scored in English football history. To no surprise, Ozil was again heavily involved.

A ball was played into the centre circle for Ozil, the German beautifully flicked it into the path of Matteo Guendouzi who played in Bellerin on the right.

Bellerin then played a pass in the direction of Ozil, who showed great awareness to dummy the ball to Alexandre Lacazette. Ozil continued his run into the box as Lacazette played a beautiful ball right into his path.

With Foxes keeper Kasper Schmeichel rushing off his line, Ozil oozed immense class under pressure to cushion the ball expertly across the goal, where Aubameyang was unmarked and waiting to tap in. That goal has not been talked about enough.

It was a sensationally crafted goal by Emery’s side, for sure that was one of the very few highlights of the Spanish manager’s reign as Gunners boss.

After the match, Emery praised Ozil’s performance.

He said: “It was good in the second half, and we finished well in the first half. We started cold maybe.

“The progression in the 90 minutes was good and we played with good attitude and level in our quality. The victory is a big one and we deserved it.”

Emery added: “Each match and training Ozil's commitment is very good. The players are working and helping each other. The performance of the team and also with Mesut was very good.

“A good result and good goals - the team was only missing the first 30 minutes.”
