Jurrien Timber’s past Arsenal Instagram post has resurfaced amid reports the Gunners have made a bid for the Ajax star.

Earlier today it was widely reported that Arsenal have made a £30million bid for Ajax’s highly-rated defender Timber.

Numerous Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, have been linked with the Netherlands international, who has just two years left on his current deal.

While personal terms are not thought to be an issue in striking a deal, Ajax allegedly want more than the £30million Arsenal have bid for the 22-year-old.

According to the BBC, Arsenal are optimistic about completing a deal for Timber, despite the player also being the subject of interest from Bayern Munich.

Arsenal advantage in Timber deal?

Arsenal may have an advantage in their pursuit of Timber. Indeed, a two-year-old Instagram post has re-emerged that suggests the Dutchman may have some allegiance to Arsenal.

Back in 2021, Timber posted a video that featured him and his twin brother Quinten Timber as children playing football in an Arsenal and Barcelona top respectively.

Of course, it is difficult to decipher which brother is donning the Arsenal top, such is the likeness of the pair.

Timber made 47 appearances in all competitions for Ajax last season, including all six of the Amsterdam club’s games in the Champions League group stage. The defender also played a central role in the Dutch giants’ Eredivisie titles in 2021 and 2022.

Timber has 15 caps for the Netherlands, four of which came in last year’s World Cup, when Oranje reached the quarter-finals.

Mikel Arteta has been keen to strengthen his defensive depth this summer, given the club’s over-reliance on William Saliba last term.

There is also uncertainty over the futures of midfield duo Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka amid ongoing interest in West Ham skipper Declan Rice and Southampton’s Roméo Lavia.
