Only one player from the Bayern Munich team that beat Borussia Dortmund in the 2013 Champions League final would start for Arsenal right now, according to a fan.

Mikel Arteta's current crop of players have surpassed all expectations this season. In fact, at the time of writing, the Gunners sit five points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

With 13 games remaining of the 2022/23 campaign, Arsenal are weeks away from lifting their first Premier League title in 19 years.

But can they do it? Many believe they have all the ingredients to make it happen, as the likes of Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka continue to perform when the stakes are high.

Amongst all the debate surrounding this season's title race, one Arsenal fan has sparked a huge amount of debate with a bold suggestion.

Twitter user Juego De Mikel thinks Franck Ribery is the only player from Bayern Munich's XI that lifted the Champions League in 2013 who would get into their current side.

He wrote: "People laughed when I said there are Champions League winning teams that wouldn’t get near this Arsenal side and I stand by that.

"Let’s take Bayern 2012/13. Other than Ribery for Martinelli who starts in that Bayern team for this Arsenal team? Not one."

Let’s take Bayern 2012/13.

To put that statement into context, the Gunners supporter is saying Aaron Ramsdale would slot into a starting line-up over arguably the best goalkeeper in world football at the time, Manuel Neuer.

Ben White, meanwhile, would start over Philipp Lahm, who was regarded as one of the world's best defenders in 2013, while Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka push Bastian Schweinsteiger and Arjen Robben out of the team.

As you can imagine, this opinion has sparked plenty of debate online.

One fan replied to the post, saying: "I know this is obviously just bait, but mental image of someone choosing Ben White over Philipp Lahm is genuinely funny."

A second wrote: "Not one of the Arsenal players would start for the best Bayern lineup of our generation. Hope this helps."

A third commented: "The only Arsenal players who could play in this Bayern team: Saka, Odegaard, Saliba."

A fourth added: "This is the worst tweet of 2023 so far."
