Arsenal are plotting the most ambitious double transfer ever, they're DESPERATE to win the Premier League

Arsenal are 'open' to signing two forwards this month as they look to win the Premier League title.

The Gunners are currently five points clear of Manchester City at the top, although they still have to face the reigning champions twice.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to bolster his options in attack. Emile Smith Rowe has been out of action since September with a groin injury, while Gabriel Jesus suffered a knee injury at the World Cup.

Eddie Nketiah is Arsenal's only orthodox option up front, while Gabriel Martinelli has been the only senior left winger in Smith Rowe's absence.

Per the Daily Mail, Arsenal are prepared to add Shakhtar Donestk winger Mykhailo Mudryk and Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix to their squad as they make a push for their first title since 2004.

Felix has been linked with a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano after a falling out with Diego Simeone.

Atletico want a loan fee for Felix, who they paid a whopping £113 million for three years ago, which most clubs are unwilling to pay.

The La Liga giants want £13 million up front, with additional costs taking the short-term deal to £16 million. Arsenal are hoping to negotiate a lower price for Felix, who is also catching Manchester United's interest.

On the other hand, it's no secret Mudryk wants a move to the Emirates Stadium in January. Arsenal have a long-standing interest in the Ukraine international, who shared images of himself watching their games over the Christmas period on Instagram.

Chelsea have entered the picture, which could prove problematic. Mudryk is yet to make an official decision, although the Blues are ready to meet Shakhtar's £88 million asking price.

Mudryk has impressed for Shakhtar this year, scoring 10 goals and registering eight assists in 18 games.

Arteta stressed how important the transfer window is following Wednesday's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United.

He said: "We are trying to improve the squad in every window.

"We’re trying to do our best because we cannot waste any windows still with the squad and the numbers that we have. We will try."

Arsenal next face Oxford United in the FA Cup on Monday evening.
