Fabrizio Romano has given the latest update on contract talks involving Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.

Back in October, The Athletic reported that the Gunners had assigned securing new deals for Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba as one of their main priorities - and they are well on their way to achieving that goal.

In February, the club announced that Martinelli had signed a new deal until the summer of 2027 on improved terms following his impressive performances this season.

The Brazilian has kicked on from there, and is Arsenal's joint top scorer in the Premier League this season with 15 goals.

Saka, meanwhile, reportedly reached an agreement in principle over a new contract in the same month, although The Athletic's David Ornstein stressed that the contract had not been signed yet.

In the case of Saliba, Arsenal are yet to reach an agreement for a player whose existing deal expires next summer.

But there is more promising news on Saka's future.

Romano gives Saka update

Taking to Twitter, Romano wrote: "Bukayo Saka will sign a new contract soon as it's only a matter of time.

"It was agreed two months ago. It's sealed - there are no changes. New deal will be valid until June 2028 - Arsenal announcement expected soon."

The CIES Football Observatory record Saka's current market value as €150 million - making him one of the most expensive players in world football.

Arsenal committing one of their prestigious Hale End graduates to a new contract is a huge boost for manager Mikel Arteta, with Saka having been linked with a move elsewhere if he could not agree terms with the club.

His new deal is set to be accompanied by the contract signed by Aaron Ramsdale, with the Arsenal shot-stopper reportedly set to agree fresh terms on his existing deal, which expires in 2025.

Saka has made 35 appearances in the Premier League this campaign, scoring 13 goals - a career-best seasonal tally. He has provided a further 11 assists.
