Arsenal are keen to sign Carlos Soler, a Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Mikel Arteta has been chasing for years, according to reports.

The Gunners sit at the summit of the Premier League, some five points clear of last year’s title winners Manchester City.

However, Mikel Arteta will need to add more depth to his talented yet thin squad if they are to mount a serious title charge after the World Cup.

Meanwhile, PSG reportedly need to sell players for Financial Fair Play reasons. The circumstances of both clubs could pave the way for Soler to move to the Emirates.

Soler to Arsenal?

According to the France Blue 100% PSG podcast, Arsenal would be interested in signing Soler if the midfielder becomes available.

Soler only joined PSG in the summer for £18million but is yet to have nailed down a place for the Ligue 1 giants.

The 25-year-old has started just four times in the league, and once in the Champions League since his summer arrival from Valencia.

Nevertheless, the Spain international has still managed three goals and two assists in his 12 outings for PSG.

The Gunners have long been linked with a move for the dynamic midfielder, who can play as an attacking midfielder or on the flanks.

Sky Sports claimed in March 2020 that Arteta was interested in signing Soler. Spanish outlet El Demarque then reported in January 2021 that Arsenal were still pursuing the player.

Almost two years on, the Gunners are once again linked with Soler - who would provide needed cover for Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard.
