'Embarrassing' - Antony performs trademark spin, Robbie Savage furiously reacts

Antony's spin got fans online talking.

Antony performed his trademark spin during Manchester United's Europa League clash against Sheriff, but it didn't go down well with Robbie Savage.

The Man United star wowed the Old Trafford faithful as he did his 360 spin just before the break of their match on Thursday.

He received the ball and then immediately spun with it, exciting fans inside the stadium. But he wasted possession as he misplaced his pass, kicking it out of play.

While the crowd seemed to enjoy Antony's spin, Robbie Savage furiously slammed the 22-year-old.

On commentary, he said: "That for me is ridiculous because he's done that, then he puts the ball out of play. Quite embarrassing actually.

"If I was the manager, I would not be happy," he added.

BT Sport pundits Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves echoed Savage's sentiment as they hit out at the Brazilian.

Scholes said: "It's just ridiculous. It's showboating, What is he thinking? - I think he needs that [showboating] kicking out of him."

Hargreaves added: "At 0-0 you don't really do that. You don't do that at 3, 4-0. You have to show respect to the opposition."

Naturally, Antony's spin also sent social media wild, with fans split on his showboating.

One Twitter user wrote: "This is the dumbest thing I’ve seen a footballer do in YEARS."

A second tweeted: "What an absolute clown."

A third argued: "I’m baffled.. why is Savage hating on Antony for? How is that skill affecting you?"

Another joked: "Antony's skill frustrating Robbie Savage makes it even better for me."

Antony's spin was his final contribution against Sheriff as Erik ten Hag dragged him off at half-time.

Man United would go onto beat Sheriff 3-0. Diogo Dalot opened the scoring just before the interval.

Second-half substitute Marcus Rashford powered home a header to double his side's second, with Cristiano Ronaldo adding a third.
