Rival fans think Man United's Antony should have been sent off against Brighton

Antony clashed with Lewis Dunk.

Rival fans think Antony should have been sent off against Brighton following his furious clash with Lewis Dunk.

Antony and Dunk had a skirmish in the 69th minute of Man United's 1-0 defeat at the AMEX Stadium on Thursday.

The Brazilian forward lashed out at Alexis Mac Allister, with the Brighton captain rushing over to the scene of the incident.

He angrily chest bumped the Man United player, who returned fire with one of his own.

A scuffle ensued as the likes of Fred, Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial jumped to the defence of their teammate.

Anthony was shown a yellow card for his actions, but people online believe he should have been shown a red card for his two infringements.

Supporters on social media reckon he should have been punished for the foul and then his reaction towards Dunk.

One Twitter user wrote: "So dunk gets a yellow for a chest bump but Antony only gets a yellow for the same thing, kicking someone and giving the linesmen abuse? State of refereeing in this country."

A second tweeted: "It’s a double yellow . First for the challenge and second for reaction . But he wears a United shirt so rules aren’t applicable."

A third added: "Antony should get a red there really. 2 yellows."

A fourth joked: "The way he bounces off dunk twice."

A Liverpool fan claimed: "Red card, Robertson got sent off against spurs last season for the same incident, the bias is real."

Antony was replaced shortly after the incident, with Erik ten Hag bemoaning the player's opportunity in the opening stages of the game as he hit out at Brighton's style of play.

Man United remain in a Champions League spot but are now just four points ahead of Liverpool.

Will the Red Devils secure a top-four finish? Let us know.
