Antonio Conte set to earn Manager of the Month nomination, despite his only game being a huge loss

Conte has been missing as Tottenham Hotspur's manager for most of February but is still expecting to get a nomination for the award.

Antonio Conte is set to be nominated for the Manager of the Month award for February, despite the fact he's only been on the bench for one game, a big loss.

It has not been a vintage campaign so far for Tottenham Hotspur, whose fans are no doubt getting a bit bored of the opening 45 minutes of their games being so dull.

They are still well in the hunt to finish in the top four, and get Champions League football once again for next season, but Harry Kane's performances aside, there hadn't been too much to write home about.

However, on Sunday, they dominated local rivals Chelsea, not that it's much of an achievement just now, to round off what's been a pretty successful February.

The shortest month of the years has seen them beat fellow London rivals West Ham, a win over Premier League champions Manchester City, and earn the three points against Chelsea.

And they've done it all without Conte on the bench, as the Italian has recently had gallbladder surgery, and been recovering from it at home in Italy.

According to the Evening Standard, he is set to be nominated for the Premier League's Manager of the Month award, even though he's only been on the bench for one game.

That game saw them get beaten 4-1 by Leicester City, with assistant manager Cristian Stellini in the dugout for all their wins in the past few weeks.

Because Conte has still had such a big role in the team recently, helping pick the team and even making in game decisions, whilst keeping in contact with his assistant, the nomination will still go to him.

Stellini will not be named as the manager in the nominations, when the Premier League names a five man list sometime later this week.

However, the report says that the manager is expected to share the award with his assistant, if Spurs are given the award for their form.

The loss to Leicester doesn't damage their chances too much, with the north London side having earned the joint most points of any team in the league during the month.

Manchester United have also won three games in the month, although they only played three times in the league in that time, due to Sunday's Carabao Cup final.

That makes Erik ten Hag favourite to add yet more silverware to his mantle, after picking up a winner's medal at the weekend, and then earning the love of United fans.
