Manchester United supporters believe Anthony Martial could be about to have his most productive season at Old Trafford due to a change in Erik ten Hag's backroom staff.

Martial, 27, has once again been linked with a move away from United this summer, with Ten Hag reportedly willing to sell the France international.

Martial, who cost United £36m back in 2015, still has one year remaining on his contract with the Manchester club, with the option of a further year.

While he could be sold to raise transfer funds this summer, United will be reluctant to allow him to leave without bringing in a replacement – with Ten Hag already in the market for a No 9.

Should they fail in their attempts to sign a new striker, Martial is likely to be kept on for at least one more season.

Martial has managed a respectable return of 88 goals in 298 games for United but has struggled to live up to expectations since arriving from Monaco.

His time at Old Trafford has been hampered by persistent injury problems, with the player missing 79 games through injury or illness since arriving in England.

Hamstring, Achilles and hip injuries ruled him out of 25 competitive games for United last season, with the player managing just 29 appearances in all competitions.

But his injury problems could soon be a thing of the past, at least according to a group of United fans on social media.

They believe he could be transformed by an upcoming change in Ten Hag's backroom staff.

On Friday, The Athletic reported that Arsenal's head of medical services Gary O'Driscoll is defecting to United later this summer.

The doctor, who first joined Arsenal in 2009, has become a key figure at the Emirates and is said to be 'highly-regarded' by the north London club.

An 'extremely popular' member of the team at Arsenal, O'Driscoll has landed the top medical job at United thanks to his 'credentials, experience, personality and character' – with the Englishman viewed as the stand-out candidate in the recruitment process.

United have needed to appoint a new head doctor since Steve McNally departed in December and was replaced by former Liverpool doctor Jim Moxon on an interim basis.

O'Driscoll who will remain with Arsenal for the time being to help integrate his successor before moving to Manchester later on this summer.

Some United supporters believe the arrival of O'Driscoll could help Martial improve his fitness and avoid injury next season, should he remain at Old Trafford.

"MARTIAL 30 GAME SEASON," joked one fan on Twitter.

Another replied: "Exactly my first thought", followed by the crying-laughing emoji.

But other United supporters were more pessimistic.

"This fanbase never learns…. he'll be injured by the end of pre-season," replied one supporter.

While another added: "We'll be lucky if he manages to do 30 training sessions."
