Australian manager Ange Postecoglou has been linked to a shock move to Chelsea after impressing for Celtic.

The 57-year-old is a surprise inclusion on a three-man shortlist of candidates to take on the Stamford Bridge job at the end of the season, according to The Guardian.

The Blues are leaning toward offering the job to former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, however, the Aussie is building a reputation as an exciting attacking coach.

He joined Celtic in 2021 and has once again transformed the club into the true powerhouse in Scotland.

The side is well clear of Rangers this year and is on course to win their second consecutive title and have also won consecutive League Cups.

On top of that, Postecoglou has become one of the most beloved figures in Glasgow thanks to his mentality and philosophy surrounding football.

The former Socceroos boss took the nation to the 2018 World Cup before managing Japanese side Yokohama to a league title in 2019.

Chelsea is on the hunt for a new man after sacking Graham Potter following a string of poor results that saw the club struggling around mid-table.

Blues legend and former coach Frank Lampard has stepped in as interim manager, however, it isn’t likely he’ll get the permanent job.

In fact, Lampard isn’t the other name on the shortlist, with Burnley boss Vincent Kompany rounding out the three-names.

The former Man City player led Burnely to instant promotion back to the Premier League and has impressed for The Clarets.

Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has previously been of interest, however, The Guardian reports that the club had reservations about the German’s personality and tactics.

Meanwhile, Pochettino has been out of the job since leaving PSG last year and is giving the job serious consideration.

It’s hard to say whether Ange would even consider the possibility of leaving Celtic at this point in his tenure.

He’s certainly garnered interest in the Premier League, however, the culture he’s built at the Scottish club has made him one of the most popular figures in football.

Celtic skipper Callum McGregor insisted that he wanted the club to keep hold of Postecoglou ‘as long as we can’.

He said: “His work speaks for itself, the style that he plays, the attacking and amount of goals that we score.

“That’s going to get the people talking, but I think Ange’s full focus is going to be on the job at hand here, and as long as we can keep him we will be delighted.

“He’s been fantastic, he’s had a really good tenure and we want to keep him. His work is outstanding and he’s a really good person.

“That’s the type of people you want to work with and we would be delighted to keep Ange as long as we can.”
