A significant amount of black smoke emerged along with the flames in shocking scenes. The cause of the fire appears to be stemmed from sparks flying as welders put together a temporary gantry.
Staff tried to use sprinklers to try and put the fire out, before the fire brigade arrived on the scene and eliminated the blaze.
Still, the damage remains substantial and looked to have spread to the dugouts and even the playing surface.
England take on Andorra, ranked 156th in the world, on Saturday evening, with the game at the 3,000 capacity ground scheduled to kick off at 19:45 and be broadcasted on ITV.
