Lucky punter picks up almost £1000 with incredible bet featuring every Milan and Inter player

Lucky punter picks up almost £1000 with incredible bet featuring every Milan and Inter player

A £6 bet for every outfield player in the Milan derby to commit a foul was turned into nearly £1000 by one lucky punter.

One lucky punter placed a speculative bet during the second leg of the AC Milan vs Inter Milan Champions League semi-final on Tuesday and ended up collecting almost £1000 for their efforts.

The latest edition of the Milan derby was always set to be a physical affair with a place in the competition's final on the line, and Inter went into the game 2-0 up from the first leg at the San Siro.

Simone Inzaghi's side were willing to do all they could to protect their lead and even managed to add to it late on as they came out comfortable 3-0 winners on aggregate.

The gambler in question expected the game to be feisty and put £6 on every single starting outfield player to commit a foul at some point in the match... which happened.

Inter committed 15 fouls in the 90 minutes with Milan conceding 22, as referee Clement Turpin was left whistle-happy to the frustration of many viewers.

While the stop-start nature of the game made it difficult for Milan, trailing, to build any momentum, it suited Inter as well as the punter, who managed to turn their £6 into £943 through odds of 157/1 on Betfair.

They may now owe a few quid to the likes of Olivier Giroud, Rafael Leao and Lautaro Martinez, who were all among the players to commit a foul in the 90 minutes and help the bettor pick up their winnings.

Martinez's goal was enough to put the tie to bed for Inter after 74 minutes in a match that Turpin refused to let flow at any point.

Milan were left trying to fight back from their disappointing first-leg performance but chances were at a minimum in their bid to break down their rivals.

Inter will now face either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final at the start of June, with the second leg of their semi-final set for tonight. And there may be a few bets on.
