Fantasy Premier League Tips: What Is Bench Boost And How Do You Use It?

The new Premier League season is fast approaching and fantasy football managers will be in the process of piecing together their 15-man squads for the opening gameweek.

For those wanting to get off to a flying start, using chips wisely is imperative to scoring high points and, above all, ensuring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) glory.

Of all the chips, Bench Boost is considered one of the strongest in FPL and can help you climb up the global ranking or even take down your mini-league.

Every point matters when playing FPL and, if played at the right moment, Bench Boost becomes a powerful tool in any fantasy manager's locker.

So, what exactly is Bench Boost and how do you use it in FPL?

What is Bench Boost in FPL?

In FPL, your bench is used in case of any injuries or absences.

Any player who doesn't score any points will be substituted out for a player on your bench, should that benched player score more points.

But once a season, you can use the bench to your advantage - by activating the Bench Boost chip.

Essentially, this means that you will get all the points you would for your first team, plus all the substitutes.

How do you use Bench Boost in FPL?

To activate your Bench Boost, simply click on the icon while you're choosing your team.

You'll then be asked whether you really want to unlock it - make sure you're certain since you only get one shot at using it.

Remember, though, you can cancel the chip any time before the deadline.

It's also worth noting that if you turn your Bench Boost on, you won't be able to play your triple captain or make transfers with your wildcard.

In a nutshell, it is best to use the chip around a double gameweek in order to fully maximise your teams' points.
