Onboard footage from Sergio Perez’s car showed what the Mexican did to Carlos Sainz immediately after their dramatic crash at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

On Sunday, McLaren star Oscar Piastri produced a brilliant race to win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the Baku City Circuit.

It looked like the race was petering out to a close but chaos ensued with just two laps remaining.

Red Bull Racing’s Perez collided with Sainz after the pair tried to battle with Ferrari star Charles Leclerc for second place.

Both cars ended up in the barrier as the race ended under the virtual safety car.

Mexican Perez was far from happy with Sainz as he blasted down the team radio: “What the f*** is he doing, man? What the f***? Is he crazy or what? F****** idiot man”

After the race ended, onboard footage from Perez’s Red Bull showed him walking over to Sainz’s car.

Some fans on social media felt Perez put his hand on the Spaniard’s helmet as the pair appeared to exchange words, but a few disagreed.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “PEREZ HAS THE AUDACITY TO PUSH CARLOS’ HEAD AFTER HE GET OFF THE CAR.” Another tweeted: “That's dangerous if Carlos had been injured.”

However, a third fan disagreed: “He doesn’t even touch Carlos.”

Someone else wrote: “I tried to zoom in to see what happened. still not sure either, so you name it.”

After the race, Mercedes’ George Russell said: “I am surprised [to be on the podium], I’m glad to see Carlos and Checo were ok but there was so much hard work from everyone in the team. There were engine changes in my team, engine changes for Lewis, so much going on and everyone working so hard.

“We had a really bad start of the race and I was dropping off a lot, but on the hard tyre I think we were one of the quickest out there and I think that was great. I got past Max and that is an added bonus to standing on the podium.”
