A series of new regulations are set to introduced to the sport, leading to significant changes in car design, performance, and sustainability, leading to several drivers potentially swapping teams.

In a statement released on the official Formula One website, it was confirmed that the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, more commonly known as the Imola Grand Prix, would not be a part of the race calendar next year.

Instead, Madrid will make its F1 calendar debut on the weekend of September 11-13, making it the second Spanish race on the 2026 calendar alongside Barcelona.

With the new Madrid race taking the mantle of the Spanish Grand Prix, Barcelona will have to find a new name before the race gets underway from June 12-14.

The Madrid track hybrid street circuit and is part of a new uninterrupted European section of the Formula 1 season introduced as part of the sport's efforts to streamline transport and reduce carbon emissions.

In the 2026 season, every race from Monaco on the first weekend in June to Madrid in early September will take place in Europe, before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix starts the final intercontinental part of the season.

In total, there will be 24 Formula One races next year, with several iconic tracks such as Monaco, Silverstone and Las Vegas all a part of the calendar.
