Michael Schumacher's 'close' friend reveals fresh details about F1 legend's health condition

Michael Schumacher suffered serious injuries during a skiing trip in 2013.

Someone 'very, very close' to Michael Schumacher has reportedly given an update on the Formula 1 legend's health.

Schumacher, 56, will forever be remembered as one of the greatest drivers in F1 history.

During what was an illustrious career, the German drove for Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes, winning seven world titles.

In total, Schumacher has 91 Grand Prix wins, 155 podiums and has amassed 1566 world championship points.

Back in December 2013, the sporting world was stunned by the worrying news that Schumacher had been hospitalised due to a serious accident while skiing.

The former Ferrari driver was airlifted to the hospital, where he was placed in a medically induced coma until June 2014.

Since then, very few to no updates have been issued on Schumacher's health as his family decided to keep all the details private.

Recently, Schumacher's former team boss, Flavio Briatore, gave a rare update on the F1 legend.

He said to Corriere della Sera: "If I close my eyes. I see him smiling after a victory.

"I prefer to remember him like that rather than him just lying on a bed. Corinna (Schumacher's wife) and I talk often, though."

In addition to Briatore's update, a person close to Schumacher has also spoken about his current health condition.

As reported by The Sun, Craig Scarborough, who has been covering F1 for around 25 years and interviewed Schumacher many times, revealed: "I spoke to someone who is very, very close to him and they just explained we’re not going to hear any more from him.

"He’s in a comfortable position as far as he can be with his state of health."

Back in 2021, during a Netflix documentary named 'Schumacher', the seven-time world champion's wife, Corinna, said: "Michael is here. Different, but he's here, and that gives us strength, I find. We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he's comfortable, and to simply make him feel our family, our bond. And no matter what, I will do everything I can. We all will.

"We're trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. 'Private is private', as he always said. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael."
