Verstappen Furious With Norris After Incident During Singapore GP Qualifying

The Red Bull man was not best pleased with the McLaren driver in Singapore.

Max Verstappen was not pleased with Lando Norris after Singapore Grand Prix qualifying.

Four-time and reigning F1 champion Verstappen finished second in qualifying while Mercedes’ George Russell snatched pole ahead of tomorrow’s race.

Meanwhile, championship leader McLaren’s Oscar Piastri was made to settle for third while youngster Kimi Antonelli and Norris were fourth and fifth.

Ferrari duo Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc managed a sixth and seventh place finish in Singapore on Saturday.

Russell appeared delighted and quickly jumped out of his car to celebrate, while Verstappen appeared annoyed after a Red Bull engineer essentially blamed Norris for blocking the 28-year-old from capturing pole.

Speaking via Red Bull’s team radio, Gianpiero Lambiase said: “You can thank your mate for that", seemingly referring to the driver who caused the Dutchman to abort his final flying lap.

And it’s fair to say Verstappen did not hold back when asked about his potential mistake.

After qualifying, Verstappen said: "Yeah, that's what happens when there is a car just cruising two seconds in front. So that's noted, will be remembered."

When asked who the driver he was referring to was, he joked: “Not Oscar!”

He then added: “So that was a bit of a shame, I think it could've been close for pole. It's always very exciting here for qualifying.

"Of course, a little bit disappointed to not be first, but for us, this weekend, so far, has been really good. The car has been very competitive, for us to be second again is very good."

The moment Verstappen mentioned happened near to the final corner as Norris was coming into the pits, the Red Bull man was attempting to complete his lap.

Norris also spoke to Sky Sports and claimed that he's been feeling unwell throughout this week but was quick to add that there were "no excuses" for his performance.

"If there's anywhere you don't want to be poorly, it's here," Norris said. "I'm better today, yesterday and the day before I was struggling a little bit. It hit me pretty quickly but it also went away relatively quickly. No excuses for today."

McLaren need just 13 points to win the 2025 constructors' championship this weekend.
