Max Verstappen gives most explosive interview of the year when asked about George Russell incident at Spanish Grand Prix

Max Verstappen cut his post-race interview short after giving a series of spiky answers.

Max Verstappen delivered an explosive interview when asked about his incident with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The shocking collision between Verstappen and Russell marred the Spanish GP, which was won by McLaren's Oscar Piastri, with Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc finishing second and third respectively.

In the F1 cooldown room, Norris aimed a brutal dig at Verstappen, who finished tenth, after witnessing his rival's moment of madness.

Naturally, the Dutchman was asked about his decision to crash into Russell after the race.

In doing so, he cut a frustrated figure as he gave a series of spiky answers.

Asked if it was 'intentional' to bump into Russell, Verstappen replied: "Does it matter? I prefer to speak about the race than just one single moment."

On his chances of winning the F1 title, he added: "If there are any, we are way too slow any way to fight for the title, I think that was clear again today.

"We tried to do a three-stop, I thought it was quite good and it was quite racy, and we also needed it because we had quite a bit of degradation on the tyres.

"I think that was good but unfortunately the safety car came out at the end and we basically ran out of tyres and the hard tyre was clearly not the right tyre.

"When you only have six laps to go everyone can go flat out and I was severely grip limited on the hard."

On pitting after the safety car was deployed, Verstappen said: "We have to look at it again. Of course new tyres or at least fresh tyres do make a bit of a difference as well.

"I think no one really expected that the hard tyre was so poor, it may have been better to stay out yes, but that's of course a bit easier to say right now."

The Red Bull driver then cut his post-race interview short after being asked about his frustration going on in the car towards the end of the race.

"Is it? Well, that's your opinion," he exclaimed. "We will leave it there."

Verstappen will be hoping for a better outcome when the F1 season resumes in Canada on June 15.
