Max Verstappen Names F1 Driver He ‘Wants as Teammate’ Above the Rest

Max Verstappen will have a new teammate in 2026.

Max Verstappen has named the Formula 1 star he wants as a teammate above the rest of the grid.

Having won four F1 world titles so far in his career, Verstappen is already one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen.

In 2025, the Dutchman mounted a monumental comeback in a bid to retain his crown.

However, McLaren star Lando Norris pipped Verstappen by just two points to clinch his maiden world championship.

Ever since taking the Red Bull seat, Verstappen has had multiple teammates, including Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Alexander Albon, Sergio Perez, Liam Lawson, and Yuki Tsunoda.

In 2026, Verstappen will again have a new teammate after Isack Hadjar was promoted from sister team Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.

Over the past few months, Verstappen's own future has been a major topic of discussion.

The Dutchman has previously stated that he would like to try other forms of racing, casting doubt over his long-term future in F1.

Speaking recently to Viaplay, Verstappen was asked about potentially racing in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

As per GP Fans, the 28-year-old has already signed on with the same team as fellow F1 star, Fernando Alonso.

When asked about the Spaniard, Verstappen said: "It would be a great opportunity. I'd rather have him in the car than 99 per cent of the others."

During his break away from F1, Alonso won Le Mans twice, in 2018 and 2019.

Despite being 44 years old, Alonso is still highly regarded in the F1 paddock, having produced impressive performances for Aston Martin in recent years.

Verstappen went on to reveal a conversation about age he had with Alonso during a recent flight to Qatar.

He said: "I was on a plane with Fernando to Qatar and we talked about it. For me, it's interesting to know - I mean, he's 44! So I asked him something like, 'What do you think about that?' I thought, let me ask.

"It's more about physical discomfort. You have more problems, and these cars aren't the best to drive anyway. And when you're older, you suffer more from these things. Your shoulders, your back, your neck - it requires much more effort when you're older."
