Fans have expressed their concern after watching Max Verstappen in action at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Verstappen is a four-time Formula 1 world champion after winning the previous quartet of championships in a row with Red Bull from 2021 onwards.

However, the Dutchman is very much an outsider now for this season's crown after his Red Bull has declined in competitiveness and he is currently 61 points behind current Drivers' Championship leader Oscar Piastri.

The McLaren driver is separated from his team-mate Lando Norris by 16 points and many expect one of those two to become the new drivers' champion this season, unless there is a dramatic change in the standings.

McLaren are also looking in a good position to retain the Constructors' Championship the Woking-based team won last season and currently have almost double the points of second-placed Ferrari heading into this weekend.

Speculation surrounds the future of Verstappen who, despite having a contract at Red Bull until the end of 2028, is far from certain to be at the Milton Keynes squad next season.

Mercedes have been widely reported to be considering making a move for the Dutchman, while Aston Martin have also been linked with his services, the latter team having already poached F1 design guru Adrian Newey from Red Bull and are due to run Honda engines next season.

This weekend sees the British Grand Prix take place at Silverstone, one of the classic circuits on the F1 calendar.

Two practice sessions took place on Friday, with a third on Saturday ahead of qualifying, before the Grand Prix being held on Sunday.

Verstappen had a poor Friday by his own admission, being 10th in FP1 and fifth in FP2, and told reporters: "For me personally it was quite a bad day.

"Just no balance in the car, it's very difficult corner to corner as well, so yeah, quite a poor day I think for us in general.

"Every weekend is different scenarios, right? Now with the wind around here, it seems like our car seems quite sensitive to it, but in general it's not been an easy day.

"(There are) maybe a few that we'll look at, but I think overall, we're just lacking a bit of performance."

Onboard footage from the practice sessions has shown Verstappen going through the corners known as Village and The Loop as he struggles to make his Red Bull turn in and the Dutchman simply said 'unbelievable' over team radio.

And fans on social media have given a worrying verdict on Verstappen's chances this weekend at Silverstone after seeing the footage.

One wrote: "Yikes."

Another posted: "Wow, I swear I’ve seen the biggest cargo ships take the turns better than this s**tbox."

One fan said: "Shopping cart turns better and has more grip."

Another fan wrote: "That car is so cooked. Just gets worse every week."

And another wrote: "This is concerning because the car is terrible to drive."
