Lando Norris and Max Verstappen will reportedly each have to pay Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, more than €1 million ahead of the 2026 season.

During the 2025 campaign, Norris and Verstappen, along with Oscar Piastri, were battling to become the champion of the world.

In the end, McLaren's Norris managed to secure his maiden world championship by finishing just two points ahead of Verstappen.

Looking ahead to the 2026 campaign, which will begin in March with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, the likes of Norris, Verstappen and Piastri will be among the favourites to win the title.

Prior to the season starting, it has been claimed that Norris, Verstappen and the rest of the F1 grid will have to pay the FIA in order to compete in the sport.

The F1 drivers will have to pay for the super license, which allows them to take part in the pinnacle of motorsport.

As reported by F1 photographer Kym Illman, each driver will have to pay a base fee and also a per-point fee.

The per-point fee is based on world championship points scored in the previous season.

As per Illman, the base fee is €11,842, with the per-point fee priced at €2,392 for every championship point scored.

Therefore, Norris will have to pay the most as he collected the most points, and the Brit will be closely followed by Verstappen, who finished just two points behind.

Norris is set to pay €1,023,658, with Verstappen paying roughly €5000 less.

Alpine's Franco Colapinto will be the only driver who competed in 2025 to pay just the base fee, after he failed to score a single point.

Meanwhile, Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas and Arvid Lindblad will also pay just the base fee as they join the grid in 2026.

2026 F1 Drivers' Super License Fees:

Lando Norris - €1,023,658

Max Verstappen - €1,018,874
