Lando Norris reveals the one F1 team he would leave McLaren for

Norris was 'diplomatic' with his answer.

Lando Norris has revealed the only F1 team he would leave McLaren for during his career.

Norris has spent his entire career to date with the Woking-based team, who won the Constructors' Championship for the first time since 1998 last season.

The Brit was a junior driver for the team, being promoted to a full-time seat alongside Carlos Sainz in 2019.

Norris won his first Grand Prix last season in Miami, one of four victories he recorded across 2024.

He will now hope to win his first Drivers' Championship in 2025, with McLaren appearing to have the advantage heading into the season-opening Australian Grand Prix based on race simulation data from testing.

Given his status at McLaren and the pace of their car, it would be hard to envisage Norris leaving the team at any time in the near future.

He was previously linked with potentially becoming Max Verstappen's team-mate at Red Bull prior to 2024, but McLaren's improvement put paid to those rumours.

Now, Norris has revealed the only team he would even consider leaving McLaren for in the future - without revealing their identity.

While speaking to NBC, the Brit was asked which team he would join in the hypothetical scenario that McLaren had to leave F1.

He replied: "I can't answer that one! I know which one I would love to go to - it's the team that everyone wants to be part of at some point in their career. But I'm very happy with McLaren."

That sentiment has been repeated by many drivers who have signed for Ferrari - including their most recent arrival Lewis Hamilton.

On his first day as a Ferrari driver in January, Hamilton wrote on Instagram: "There are some days that you know you'll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days.

"I've been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn't be happier to realise that dream today."

And former Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel once said: "Everyone is a Ferrari fan. Even if they say they're not, they are Ferrari fans."
