Jeremy Clarkson's gridwalk interview with Martin Brundle before the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix has got fans talking on social media.

The Grand Tour and former Top Gear presenter is at the Sakhir International Circuit to watch the opening race of the 2024 season.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen qualified on pole for the 57-lap race, having qualified ahead of Charles Leclerc and George Russell.

Clarkson was approached by Brundle to ask for his thoughts on the season, and who would win.

He said: "I spent all of today looking at the lap times from last year to this year, and wondering - what have they all been doing over the winter?

"The gaps, by and large, are the same. McLaren have gotten a lot better, they are much a closer to Max. It's a strange thing to go from one year to the next, and for so little to have changed."

Clarkson was also asked for who he believed would win the race. He took a second to think before replying: "Adrian Newey."

Newey is Red Bull's chief technical officer, and the key component behind the creation of the team's successful race and championship-winning cars of the past 15 years.

You can watch the full interview below.

Fans took to social media with a similar comment after hearing the interview.

One wrote: "Is it just me or does Jeremy Clarkson sound very different?"

Another said: "Has something happened to Jeremy Clarkson's voice or has it really been so long since I watched Top Gear?"

A third added: "Does Jeremy Clarkson sound different or am I just crazy?"

Others talked about his comment about Newey, with one writing: "Adrian Newey. Clarkson knows what's up."

And a second added: "Jeremy Clarkson saying he's backing Adrian Newey to win is so real."

A third stated: "Clarkson knows wheel."

After his comments, Clarkson sat back to watch Verstappen maintain his lead into turn one, before pulling out a five-second lead over second-placed Russell by the end of lap five.
