Fans on social media have hit out at McLaren driver Lando Norris for his comments after F1 championship rival Max Verstappen won the Brazilian Grand Prix.

On Sunday, Verstappen conduced an incredible drive to come back and win the Brazilian GP having started the race 17th on the grid.

Meanwhile Norris. who started the race in pole position, immediately lost the spot to fellow Brit George Russell and ultimately finished the race in sixth due to a mixture of both weather conditions and strategic decisions.

And after the race, Norris hit out at his championship rival in a post-race interview, and Formula One fans are not happy about it.

During the race, Williams driver Franco Colapinto crashed shortly after Norris had come into the pits to chnage his tyres, giving up his second-place position.

This led to a red flag which allowed Verstappen and several other drivers to change their tyres without losing time on the track, and it is this that Norris claims led to the Red Bull driver winning the race.

Speaking after the race, Norris said: “That’s life sometimes. you take a gamble (waiting for a red flag for a ‘free pitstop’), it’s paid off for them. it’s not talent, it’s just luck”

Reacting to the comments online, F1 fans were outraged, claiming that it was classless and unsportsmanlike from the Brit given the fact that Verstappen had executed a highly impressive drive to come back from so far behind on the gird.

Commenting on a clip of the interview, one fan wrote: "That is unsportsmanlike, especially after Verstappen didn’t discredit him at all in Miami."

Another agreed, adding: "And you’re trying to tell me Max is the one with attitude problems? That max is the childish one? That max is the sore loser?

Do you think Lando went too far with his dig at Verstappen?

"Lando Norris they will never make me like you."

While one simply stated: "Lando Norris is the biggest whiniest sorest loser omg???"

The result takes Verstappen's lead atop the championship table to 62 points, meaning Norris will have to outscore the Dutch driver by a 21 points in each of the reaming three race weekends in order to win his first title.
