Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, have reportedly been 'bombarded' with complaints after Red Bull spotted something 'impossible'.

Last year, Red Bull and McLaren battled to become world champions as Max Verstappen was pushed all the way by Lando Norris.

In the end, the Dutchman claimed his fourth F1 world title, but Red Bull lost their crown with McLaren taking glory in the constructors' championship.

During what was a fascinating season, McLaren were accused of filling tyres with water in order to help with cooling.

At the time, there was no concrete evidence of any wrongdoing by McLaren.

However, ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, the tyre cooling controversy has reared its head again.

As reported by Auto Motor und Sport, Red Bull have continued to investigate the papaya team closely.

It has been suggested that the Milton Keynes based team pointed thermal imaging cameras at the rear brake ducts of the McLaren MCL39 during pit stops.

From the images they got, Red Bull claimed that they have seen 'many blue spots' (cooler areas) around the MCL39's brake drums.

However, 'a lot of orange and red' areas were spotted on other cars.

This has resulted in Red Bull believing that it is 'impossible' that McLaren have achieved this with 'air alone'.

As a result of this latest development, the suspicion of McLaren using water for tyre cooling has resurfaced.

McLaren team boss Zak Brown has always been adamant that the team's tyre temperatures are down to ‘high downforce, good vehicle balance and innovation’.

In a bid to get to the bottom of this issue, it has been said that Red Bull have been 'bombarding' the FIA with complaints as they bid to 'solve the mystery'.

It has been reported that the FIA will take a 'particularly close look’.

SPORTbible has contacted Red Bull Racing for comment.

On Saturday, Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli will start on pole for the Miami Grand Prix sprint race after he put in a stormer of a lap to qualify ahead of McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Norris.

Red Bull star Verstappen will start from fourth position.
