A decision on Max Verstappen's penalty points has been made ahead of the British Grand Prix.
Over the last two races in Austria and Canada, reigning Formula 1 world champion Verstappen has had to tread very carefully.
During the Spanish Grand Prix last month, Verstappen received three penalty points on his superlicense after an incident with George Russell.

As a result, the Dutchman was just one point away from an automatic race ban.
However, it was reported that two of the 11 points Verstappen has collected on his license were due to expire this month.
After coming through races in Austria and Canada, it can now be confirmed that Verstappen has had two penalty points taken away.

A document from last season's Austrian Grand Prix stated that on June 30 2024, Verstappen was handed two penalty points.
On Monday, June 30 2025, exactly 12 months later, the two points collected from last season's race have expired.
As per FIA regulations, penalty points remain on a driver's superlicense for 12 months only.
As a result, Verstappen now has nine penalty points on his superlicense instead of 11, reducing the risk of a potential race ban for the foreseeable future.

Last time out in Austria, Verstappen was involved in an accident, but through no fault of his own.
In the opening lap, the Red Bull star was taken out by Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, who locked up as he approached Turn 3.
Speaking afterwards, Verstappen said: "Unlucky, I guess. It is what it is. I spoke quickly to Kimi, he came with me to the hospitality. I think every driver has made a mistake like that. No one does that on purpose as well so for me, that’s not a big deal.

"It was not the weekend that I guess we hoped for pace wise. Then of course we were a little bit unlucky in Qualifying with that yellow flag, otherwise you start a bit further ahead. Then the race was unlucky again. Sometimes you have those weekends."
