F1 officials are set to gather for a “high-level” meeting on Monday (April 20), with the sport’s technical regulations among the key talking points.
F1 is currently midway through a five-week hiatus due to the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, which has allowed the sport’s hierarchy to discuss several topics – namely the controversial 2026 regulation changes.
Several drivers – including Red Bull’s Max Verstappen – have criticised the rule changes, which came into effect at the start of the campaign, with engines now split 50/50 between internal combustion and electrical power.
The four-time world champion has suggested he is questioning his future in the sport, with competing becoming less enjoyable as a direct result of the new regulations.

Throughout April, several meetings have been held by the FIA, drivers, F1 and other stakeholders to discuss potential changes following the season’s opening three races – in Australia, China and Japan.
The first meeting was held on April 15, a day before a technical meeting took place on April 16.
A further meeting will take place between F1 CEOs today, with discussions over potential alterations to the regulations on the agenda, before a final proposal is sent to the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) for approval.
F1 chief's statement on "high-level" meeting
A statement issued by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem on Sunday (April 19) read: “I am delighted to report that there has been constructive and collaborative discussion between the FIA and the Formula 1 drivers ahead of tomorrow’s CEOs’ and team principals’ meeting to discuss potential changes to the 2026 regulations.
“The drivers have provided invaluable input on adjustments they feel should be made, particularly in the areas of energy management, to ensure safe, fair and competitive racing.
“The FIA has also held a series of meetings over the past few weeks with technical representatives from the teams, power unit manufacturers and FOM to discuss proposed changes. Safety and the best interests of the sport are the main focus of these discussions.
“Following the meeting tomorrow, the final proposals will be put before an FIA WMSC e-vote.”
A separate statement issued by the FIA confirmed that a “high-level meeting with representation from all stakeholders is scheduled for April 20”.
F1 returns to action in Miami, with the fourth Grand Prix of the season set to take place on May 3.
