Fernando Alonso's X-rated radio message has sparked a frenzied reaction among F1 fans after safety car drama.

Alonso had a successful weekend at the Dutch GP, as he finished eighth behind his Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll.

But the Spaniard feared the worst earlier in the race when the safety car was deployed for the first time.

Alonso had pitted just five laps prior and he believed his rivals would receive a huge advantage from the free pit stop provided by the safety car.

On the radio he said: “F******g luck we have always, s**t Ah, f*****g end of the race. F******g lucky.”

But it was not all negative for Alonso at Zandvoort. Aston Martin made another aggressive early pit stop later in the race, but on that occasion was closer to his rivals by the time the safety car re-emerged.

It meant he was ninth at the time of the restart, although Alonso was on older tyres than those around him.

But he drove well to hold off the Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda and following Lando Norris' retirement, Alonso recorded an impressive eighth place.

How did fans react to Fernando Alonso's outburst?

Many Formula 1 fans took to social media to react to the former world champion's outburst on team radio.

@Arizal_R1 wrote: "Again unluckiest driver in the world."

@GNehcyssie added: "Might be the angriest I've seen Alonso."

But not all F1 supporters were so kind to the Aston Martin star.

"Shut up Fernando you were 15th even if you completed a perfect race, 10th would be a miracle," wrote @theHDcode.

Alonso's outburst at his misfortune at the beginning of the race was not his only outburst of an incident-packed Dutch GP

Aston Martin's decision to make another early pit stop later in the race and move their driver onto the hard tyres led to another confrontation.

Alonso's race engineer asked: "How is the balance on the hard tyre?"

The Spaniard replied: ""I f*****g don't know. You put me always in f*****g traffic, I don't know."

But Aston Martin's decision to pit Alonso earlier proved to be a masterstroke as he recorded an impressive eighth.

It leaves Alonso 12th in the Drivers Standings, just two points behind his teammate Stroll.

And Aston Martin are currently sixth in the Constructors Championship, but only two points ahead of the Racing Bulls who enjoyed a hugely impressive weekend, as rookie Isack Hadjar recorded his first podium finish.

Formula 1 returns again next weekend with the Italian GP at Monza.
