A driver who has had his Formula 1 dream dashed could be handed a shock lifeline.
Ahead of the 2025 campaign, the grid welcomed a total of six rookie drivers.
The likes of Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Oliver Bearman (Haas), Jack Doohan (Alpine), Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber), Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), and Liam Lawson (Red Bull) were all taking part in their first full F1 season.
New Zealander Lawson saw his Red Bull stint cut short after just two races as he was demoted back to Racing Bulls, with Yuki Tsunoda taking over.

Meanwhile, Australian driver Doohan, who started the season at Alpine alongside Pierre Gasly, was replaced by Franco Colapinto following the Miami Grand Prix.
After being replaced, Doohan was kept on by Alpine as a reserve driver.

However, earlier in the week, it appeared that Doohan is no longer with Alpine after a cryptic post on social media.
He posted a series of saddening photos from this season which show him embracing mechanics, as well as older photos picturing his success in the junior categories.
There was no caption but comments from those close with him established what everyone feared.
For example, Alpine race engineer Cristoforo Pirro commented: "Thanks, broski! It was a pleasure to work with you. See you on track."
However, it has now been reported that Doohan could be handed another crack at F1.
As per Last Word On Sports, Doohan has recently been favoured by Toyota, who were recently confirmed as Haas' title sponsors.
It is believed that Toyota work closely with Haas and could have some influence on the team's driver line-up. It has previously been reported that Doohan could become the reserve driver for Haas in 2026.
Looking ahead to 2027, Doohan could reportedly be in the conversation for a seat, with current stars Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon entering the final year of their deals.
Bearman has long been linked with Ferrari and depending on what happens with Lewis Hamilton, the young talent could be lured away by the Scuderia.
