Sky F1 Pundits Called Out Over End of Season Driver Rankings

Sky Sports F1 pundits have decided on their end-of-season driver rankings - and it's caused huge debate among fans.

Ted Kravitz, Bernie Collins, Karun Chandhok and presenter Simon Lazenby all contributed their top 10 lists, featuring major differences in opinion.

Kravitz, Chandhok and Lazenby all chose Max Verstappen as their driver of the season, while Collins instead opted for Oscar Piastri.

Champion Lando Norris was ranked second by Kravitz and Collins, with George Russell placed second on Chandhok and Lazenby's lists.

Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, is ranked fifth by everyone except Lazenby, who put the Monegasque driver down in eighth.

Carlos Sainz and Isack Hadjar feature in all four lists, with Nico Hulkenberg, Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman all featuring three times.

There is no space in any of the top 10 lists for Lewis Hamilton, who finished in sixth place in the Drivers' Championship in his first season with Ferrari but comfortably behind team-mate Leclerc.

Alpine's Pierre Gasly, meanwhile, is the only driver to appear once, with Lazenby placing him ninth.

The Frenchman picked up all 22 of Alpine's points and reached Q3 on 10 occasions, despite his team finishing bottom of the Constructors' Championship and often struggling at the back of the field.

And Russell has been recognised for an excellent season which saw him take on the mantle of Mercedes' undisputed lead driver following Hamilton's departure to Ferrari.

The Brit won two races and collected a further seven podiums, while often rivalling the McLaren drivers and Verstappen in qualifying by outperforming where his car might have been expected to place.

He features twice in second place, and twice in fourth, on the Sky F1 pundits ranking.

But fans were divided over the overall top 10 lists.

One wrote: "What a weird selection. Two of them don't put the world champion in the top 2."

Another asked: "Where is Alonso? He's 24-0 [versus] his team-mate [in qualifying] and finished top 10 in an Aston with consistent mega drives and overtakes."

A third said: "Charles Leclerc not making the top three is absolutely ridiculous. In terms of extracting the best out of the given machinery, Charles was right up there with Max."

A fourth wrote: "Karun's list is the only decent one. Leclerc should be above both McLaren drivers."

A fifth added: "Having two McLarens ahead of Verstappen with Piastri ahead of Norris is honestly disappointing."

While a sixth agreed: "Anything other than Max, Charles and George in the top three is just wrong."
