One Formula 1 team will write themselves into the history books by selecting a never-before-seen driver lineup for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

This weekend, the 2024 F1 season will come to a close at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Heading into the last Grand Prix of the campaign, the driver's championship has already been won by Red Bull superstar Max Verstappen.

However, the constructor's title is still up for grabs, with McLaren currently leading Ferrari by 21 points in the standings.

Ahead of the weekend, Ferrari have announced that they will be making history by selecting Charles Leclerc and his brother, Arthur, as their driver lineup for Free Practice 1 (FP1).

Arthur is set to replace Spaniard Carlos Sainz for the first practice session of the weekend.

On social media, the Italian team wrote: "Making Formula 1 history. @Charles_leclerc and @arthur_leclerc7 will be taking part in Friday’s FP1 season as team-mates. You won't want to miss this."

For the first time in F1 history, two brothers will be taking part in a competitive session for the same team.

24-year-old Arthur last competed in a single-seater back in 2023, when he finished in 15th place in Formula 2 racing for the DAMS team, scoring one podium.

This year, the younger Leclerc brother took part in the European Le Mans Series in a Panis Racing LMP2 and won at the 4 Hours of Imola alongside co-drivers Charles Milesi and Manuel Maldonado.

Back in 2023, the two brothers interviewed each other for a video on the F1 YouTube channel.

During the video, Charles asked Arthur to reveal his biggest dream as a driver, he replied: "Obviously, it is to reach Formula 1, that's my biggest dream. That's what you see at the end of the picture.

"But obviously it is not something you should focus to reach it, there is a lot of steps before, I mean, you know how it is."
