Mensur Suljovic has received widespread criticism for his response to Ross Smith following their controversial round of 16 clash at the Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel.
Smith was furious with Suljovic's on-stage behaviour during the match and claimed that "karma will come around" for the Austrian after he appeared to encourage boos from the crowd.
For those who missed the incident, Smith needed double 18 to secure the win and, as he composed himself on the oche, Suljovic gestured for the audience to make more noise by waving his arms in the air.

The Englishman proceeded to miss, a moment Suljovic celebrated, and the latter went on to secure a quarter-final clash against Dirk van Duijvenbode by taking out 55.
After the game, Smith took to social media and criticised his opponent for what happened. "I don't blame Mensur for me losing that game," he wrote on X in the aftermath of Sunday's clash.
"I missed 2 match darts. Simple as that. Obviously it's impossible for me to no what hes doing behind my back when im throwing apart from the the crowds response. If he wants to be an absolute helmet thats on him karma will come around."
Mensur Suljovic crossed line with response to Ross Smith
Suljovic went on to reach his first Euro Tour semi-final since 2021 after recording a 6-1 win over Van Duijvenbode.
After the match, interviewer Philip Brzezinski was keen to hear what the Austrian had to say about Smith's outburst and, unsurprisingly, his response has drawn criticism for unnecessarily bringing women into the conversation.
“Look, Ross Smith is one of the best players in the world," said Suljovic, as per Darts News. "What is the guy complaining about? He has to play his game, otherwise he can go straight home. Women complain, sorry. You don’t do that.
“Okay, I got the crowd going a little, just like in Germany. I need the support. I can’t do anything without you. Thank you."

Suljovic suggested that he receives the same treatment from a crowd when playing in England.
“What is he complaining about?" he added. "When I’m in England, everyone is against me. Everywhere, they’re against me. Now he suddenly complains? He should just stay at home.”
Brzezinski disagreed with Suljovic's comments and mentioned the timing of his gesture against Smith.
“I didn’t see that," Suljovic replied. "It could be, okay. I’ll have to watch it back on video."
Mensur Suljovic has previously been accused of 'cheating' by Joe Cullen
Suljovic has been involved in his fair share of controversy over the years. In the most recent World Darts Championship, he was accused of cheating by Joe Cullen.
After falling to a 3-1 defeat in the second round, Cullen expressed his frustration at how long Suljovic was taking to throw his darts. 'The Rockstar' was also unhappy with his post-match celebrations.
"If that’s darts, I don’t want no part of it," Cullen wrote on X. "Always liked Mensur away from the board but that was plain for all to see. I don’t think I’m alone in feeling this way. The old guard will say it’s part of the game but word it how you will - it’s CHEATING. That’s not darts."
Suljovic refused to apologise to Cullen for what was deemed to be gamesmanship.
"I never say sorry to Joe Cullen in person. Never. I play on that stage. What's his problem?" he said. "I'm sorry to the referee but for Joe Cullen, I'm never sorry. Everybody plays different."
