Luke Littler's latest PDC decision will suit him perfectly after boycott threat

Luke Littler is set to return to the Netherlands in a matter of days after he said he could boycott tournaments following the World Series of Darts - and the circumstances will suit him down to the ground.

Littler was whistled and booed during his 10-9 victory over Nathan Aspinall in the World Series Finals on Saturday, with referee Charlie Corstorphine twice stopping play to warn the crowd.

The two-time reigning world champion said afterwards that he would consider whether to play in the Netherlands again if the Dutch crowd continued their hostility towards him, before going on to lose 10-4 to Jonny Clayton in the quarter-finals of the same tournament on Sunday.

Luke Littler has made PDC entry decision amid boycott threat

The 19-year-old's defeat to Clayton means that his opportunity to complete a 'perfect year' - winning all ranked and non-ranked televised events - is now over.

Littler stated in July that, having skipped the entirety of the Players Championship schedule over the year to date, he would enter two PC events in Leicester in an attempt to qualify for the Players Championship Finals in November.

He won the event in 2025, defeating Aspinall 11-8 in the final.

But only 64 players qualify for the Finals via the yearly ProTour Order of Merit system, and Littler is currently in 125th place in that particular ranking due to his lack of participation in events this year.

He has collected £10,500 in prize money, with 64th-placed Shane McGuirk having won £27,250 to date.

With only two standard Players Championship events left, Littler has no choice but to enter PC29 and 30 if he wants to have any chance of playing in the Finals this year.

Both tournaments are being held in the Dutch city of Den Bosch, but 'The Nuke' won't have to deal with any crowd disruption as Players Championship events are hosted behind-closed-doors.

The Finals will be held in front of a live crowd, but rather than taking place in the Netherlands, they will be hosted by the Butlin's Resort in Minehead.

A total of £15,000 in prize money is on offer to the winner of each Players Championship event, meaning Littler will almost certainly have to win at least one event - or alternatively finish runner-up in both, for £10,000 prize money each time - to qualify for the Finals. There are 128 players that compete in each event.

The 19-year-old has previously stated that he may not necessarily compete in Den Bosch if his 'perfect year' attempt was ended at the World Series. Either way, Littler's decision will suit him - he either has the opportunity to compete for more prize money, or he travels home for a break while many of his rivals are in competition.

Speaking to reporters after his last-leg win over Aspinall, Littler issued a clear response when asked if he would follow a similar boycott to events in Germany, with the 19-year-old deciding not to play certain tournaments due to the crowd reception.

He said. "100 per cent. Obviously, I don't know about the Germans. I've not been for a very long time. We'll have to see in Dortmund if it changes, if it stays the same.

"But yeah, if the Dutch stay like this then I'm not going to do any Euro Tours over there. There's just no point in me travelling, wasting my time, whilst I'm getting booed. I just want to play my darts, obviously sign autographs and stuff. Because the past two nights I've done nothing; I've just walked off stage, not thanked anyone. There's no point thanking everyone when they boo me."
