Luke Littler didn't hesitate when asked if he's the best darts player in the world right now

Luke Littler had absolutely no hesitation when he was asked if he is the best darts player in the world right now.

The 17-year-old sensation has been on an incredible run ever since his fairytale run to the World Darts Championship final and has quickly become a household name in the sport.

Given his age and talent, many have tipped him to dominate the sport for years to come.

Littler has proven he can hang with the very best and has been in fine form in his Premier League darts debut.

'The Nuke' has already secured a play-off place after four nightly wins in the last six, the latest coming in Aberdeen on Thursday.

After accruing 21 wins, he finds himself eight points clear at the top going into the final two nights in Leeds and Sheffield.

He's the talk of the town and yet Littler refutes claims that he is the best in the business right now.

Asked by darts legend Wayne Mardle if he feels as though he is the best in the world right now, Littler simply said: "No".

Mardle then followed up, saying: "You don't? Luke Humphries is?"

But Littler wasn't getting carried away and answered: "I don't know [who is], not me."

He beat Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith in Aberdeen to set up a final with Rob Cross, who avenged last week's loss with a 6-4 victory to earn the £10,000 prize.

Littler was whistled by the crowd in his quarter-final against Aspinall and responded by shushing the fans and uttering something after he secured the win.

The Warrington teenager will be back in action in Leeds when he takes on Peter Wright in the quarter-finals of Night 15.

He is already pencilled in for the play-offs at the O2 Arena in London on Thursday 23 May.
