Luke Humphries has sent a direct message to darting legend Phil Taylor after his Premier League triumph.

On Thursday night, the Premier League darts play-offs took place inside the O2 Arena in London.

After 15 nights of brilliant action, only four were in with a shout of winning the tournament.

Defending champion and heavy favourite Luke Littler was joined by Humphries, Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall.

During the first semi-final, Littler took on Welshman Price.

Despite trailing 6-4 at the break, the teenager produced a brilliant comeback to win 10-7, sealing his place in the final.

Humphries then beat Aspinall 10-7 to set up a mouth-watering clash against Littler.

In the final, both players produced some of their best darts but it was Humphries who managed to win 11-8, sealing the Premier League title.

Speaking to Sky Sports after his victory, Humphries thanked the legendary Taylor.

He said: "This one means the world to me, that was the one I was missing. It was the one I wanted, I have done it now.

"If I don't win another title, I am happy as I have done the three hardest ones to do."

Humphries continued: "Phil Taylor has given me a lot of support over the last couple of weeks so, Phil, if you are watching, thank you.

"He gave me a lot of advice and that extra support."

Taylor is often regarded as the GOAT of darts, having won 14 world titles and six Premier League trophies among other accolades.

Speaking about Littler, Humphries added: "I love Luke to bits. He is one of my best mates on tour and he is so good.

"He wasn't at his best tonight, neither was I. I thought the game was going to go away from me at 3-0 down. He is a great player, a great lad, and I will get in early before he trounces everyone."
