Gerwyn Price Reveals What He Told James Wade Immediately After Lengthy Walk-On

Price beat Wade 5-0 at the Grand Slam of Darts.

Gerwyn Price has revealed what James Wade told him in the immediate aftermath of 'The Machine' taking a considerable amount of time to walk on the stage before their match.

The duo met at the Grand Slam of Darts, which is being held at WV Active Aldersley in Wolverhampton, on Saturday.

Price took on Wade at the group stage of the competition, with Price winning 5-0.

The result means Wade has now been eliminated from the tournament and cannot process to the next phase.

Wade will play on Monday what is now a dead rubber against Ricky Evans, who has already secured qualification to the competition's next phase.

Price meanwhile will face Stefan Bellmont to decide which man will join Evans in the knockout stage.

In their encounter, Price was introduced first, but had to wait quite a considerable amount of time for Wade to complete his walk-on to the stage.

Wade repeatedly stopped to sign autographs and engage with fans before making it on to the stage.

Both men did share a laugh once they were on stage together after Wade's lengthy walk-on.

The PDC introduced new guidance ahead of the tournament in the form of a reminder over the speed of walk-ons.

They clarified to SPORTbible that players 'have been reminded of the need to be ready to make their way to the stage' once announced by the MC.

There is, however, not an outright ban on autographs.

Price has now responded to Wade's pre-match antics in delaying his arrival to the stage before their encounter in Wolverhampton.

The two players do get on well together and are good friends, as Price revealed he joked with Wade if he had read the players' briefing or not.

He added that his opponent does try and get in the head of others players, but it did not have an impact on the Welshman.

Price said: "I said to him 'come on, did you not read the players' briefing?!'

"He's a good friend, and sometimes he tries to get in your head a little bit and it does work now and again, but not today."

Speaking generally about his 5-0 victory, he added: "Sometimes I prefer that pressure where you know if you lose, you're going home, so in knockout situations I seem to find the best stuff and I played well today.

"James missed a couple of chances I think in maybe one or two legs, but I was clinical."
