Raymond van Barneveld, Cameron Menzies and more punished for darts rule breaches

Cameron Menzies, Raymond van Barneveld and Gary Anderson are among the high-profile darts stars to be punished for rule breaches since 2023.

DRA, the independent body which regulates the sport, published an official document which showed a list hearings from January 2023 to June 2026 in relation to disciplinary incidents.

The list came to light earlier this week, with the document shedding light on a series of allegations and controversies in televised and non-televised events put on by the PDC, WDF, Modus and ADC.

A list of this kind had not been published since January 2022 and provided insight into the various suspensions handed out during a three-year period.

Menzies is mentioned in the document for the notable incident where the Scot repeatedly punched a table on stage after losing to debutant Charlie Manby in the World Darts Championship in December.

Menzies, who was left with blood on his knuckles, issued an apology and said he "had a lot of things on my mind recently" as he spoke about the passing of his uncle Gary.

Menzies was fined £2,500 for his conduct and hit with a four-month suspended ban until 23 July 2027 - meaning he must not be involved in another incident in that period.

Meanwhile, former world champion Van Barneveld features on two occasions - the first for "inappropriate behaviour and using offensive language' at Players Championship 2 event in Wigan in 2025.

The Dutchman was punished with a three-month ban that is suspended for 12 months, as well as a £3,000 fine.

Bizarrely, his second appearance is in relation to "failing to report damage to his hotel room" at an event in Germany in May 2025 - leading to a formal warning.

Anderson came under fire for "aggressive and abusive behaviour" at World Matchplay Blackpool - with it being claimed that the incident involved a journalist.

The Flying Scotsman received a £3,000 fine, £1,000 of which is suspended until the start of next month.

Elsewhere, Nathan Aspinall got a fine of £750 and a formal warning for offensive language at the Players Championship 13 in April 2025.

There was also an earlier £250 fine for inappropriate behaviour the previous year, as well as a £500 fine and formal warning for recklessly throwing a dart.

Who else was named in the DRA darts sanctions?

Luke Littler does not feature in the document but Luke Humphries did get a £250 fine for his colourful language at the UK Open in March 2025.

Another world champion on the list is Rob Cross, who is in early on for "failing to complete his match" and being hit with a £750 fine at Players Championship in April 2023.

In an incident on the European Tour, Scott Williams was issued with a £1000 fine and given a formal warning for an offensive gesture.

Dom Taylor was named twice for failing drugs test - the second of which was at the World Darts Championship.

After testing positive for cocaine and cannabis, he received a six-month ban which he recently returned from.

On top of that, Taylor had to pay a £1,275 fine and forfeited his £25,000 prize money.

Taylor, who agreed to undergo a UKAD-approved three-month substance abuse treatment programme following a previous offence, also lost his Tour Card.

The document also showed that the DRA came down hard on Prakash Jiwa and Andy Jenkins with big bans and fines of more than £17,000 for match-fixing in the Modus Super Series.

Leighton Bennett was also found guilty of the same offence, receiving an eight- year suspension which lasts until 2032 and being ordered to pay costs of £8,100.
