When all is said and done, Phil Taylor can say he accomplished a feat that can no longer be achieved on live television by the likes of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries.
For many, Taylor will go down as the greatest darts player of all time. In total, he won 214 professional tournaments across a trophy-laden career that featured 16 World Darts Championship titles.
'The Power' also has a number of impressive records to his name, including the most televised nine-dart finishes (11).
As well as the above, he became the first player to throw two nine-darters in the same match, accomplishing the feat in a memorable 2010 Premier League final against James Wade.

A more uncommon feat in Taylor's career, meanwhile, came at the Aquarius Club in Chesterfield, when he recorded a score of 240 while competing in the 1993 UK Matchplay.

Taylor threw the maximum score on a Quadro board, which was introduced by Harrows Darts Technology the previous year.
Featuring an extra ring between the treble and outer bull, which meant you could get quadruples as well as trebles, the highest possible checkout was 210 from two quadruple 20s and then the bull.

Taylor went one better by throwing the maximum 240 score against Jocky Wilson, who went on to reach the final against Dennis Priestley.
Wilson, Shayne Burgess, Bob Anderson and Peter Evison also later matched the achievement during the event.
The board was in play for several years, but according to Patrick Chaplin, players were often left confused by the number of possible combinations, which were understandably tough to remember.

It was discontinued in 2000 and has not been seen in a professional capacity for some time. That being said, a 2025 version has been released.
Speaking back in 2024, Taylor revealed how he would mentor Luke Littler, who has quickly established himself as one of the best players in darts.
"I couldn't do it like most people do it, I'd have to be hands-on," he told Online Darts. "Everything would be there for you, and I'd be knocking at your door at 10 in the morning.

"Luke wouldn't be playing on his PlayStation, and I could improve Luke one hundred per cent, no trouble.”
Like many teenagers, Littler spends plenty of time playing games, and even partnered with Xbox ahead of the World Darts Championship back in December.
“If I spent time with him, I would see how he practises, see how he eats, see how he exercises, see how he does anything,” Taylor told talkSPORT.
"If he’s playing on them PlayStations, I would give him a set time - an hour a night or something - and then get ready for the next day.

“Make sure you're not staying up too late and waking up in the morning, and you are shattered. I have seen that many, many times – players who will have a drink after, they get into the drinking, and then they aren’t getting to bed until 1 am or 2 am.”
