Regarding the specific details of recent talks, Aouna reports that Manchester City have offered the player a short-term extension to his current deal - which is set to expire in the summer of 2023.

While there has been talk of Manchester City offering the player a one-year extension to his deal, Aouna quashed such suggestions on social media in a response to tweets relating to his report.

The report states that Manchester City and Riyad Mahrez still need to find common ground on some terms, but there is 'optimism' from the part of the club that an agreement will be reached.

Mahrez had a remarkable season across all competitions during the last campaign.

Across a total of 47 appearances for Manchester City, Riyad Mahrez registered a club-high 24 goals and added to that with a further nine assists.
