Manchester City's Premier League title victory earned them a mouthwatering payday, it has been revealed.

The Sky Blues dramatically beat Aston Villa 3-2 on the final day of last season to retain the Premier League title, as Pep Guardiola's side lifted the trophy for a fourth time in five years.

City, who squandered the opportunity to virtually seal the title away to West Ham on the penultimate weekend of the campaign, marked the ten year anniversary of Sergio Aguero's famous title winning goal with another epic comeback to win the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City and Liverpool once again found themselves going toe to toe all the way to the finish line, with the Blues reigning victorious after another relentless title race.

After goals from Matty Cash in the first-half and former Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho in the 69th minute, many thought Steven Gerrard had his helped his former club to the Premier League title.

However, two goals from Ilkay Gundogan and a long-range drilled effort from Rodri lead to the Blues retaining the title in dramatic fashion and queued jubilant scenes at the Etihad Stadium.

City once again surpassed the 90 point mark, winning 29 matches and finishing with 93 points - one more than Jurgen Klopp's side.

As a result, the back-to-back Premier League Champions secured a lucrative payment in prize money, which totalled over £150 million, according to a new report.

The Daily Mail report that the Sky Blues' Premier League win earned them an incredible £153,090,894.

Beating Liverpool to top spot fetched them a whopping £41,144,400 in merit payments.

Domestically the Blues earnt over £90 million while internationally, City earnt over £56 million in prize money.

City also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and FA Cup last season.

The Blues suffered an agonising loss to Real Madrid in the second-leg of their Champions League semi-final.

In the FA Cup, Guardiola's side were punished from an abysmal first-half, finding themselves 3-0 down at half-time.

Manchester City are once again competing on four fronts this season, and have made a positive start to their latest title defence.

Guardiola's side sit one point behind league leaders Arsenal in the table, having won five and drawn two matches.

Summer signing Erling Haaland has enjoyed a sensational start to life in England, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.
