Manchester City have a total of six players nominated for France Football's 2022 Men's Ballon D'Or award, it has been confirmed.

The Premier League giants endured yet another hugely successful 2021/22 campaign under manager Pep Guardiola.

While there was no success on a domestic cup competition front, a fourth English top-flight title in the last five seasons arrived at the Etihad Stadium courtesy of an intense race against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

In Europe's premier club competition - the UEFA Champions League - Manchester City reached the semi-final stage.

Despite being knocked out in dramatic fashion by eventual winners Real Madrid, City manager Pep Guardiola has exclaimed his pride at the achievement won by his players in the competition.

As France Football release their list of 30 players nominated for the 2022 Ballon D'Or award, Manchester City have now been made aware of their six nominations.

Manchester City's youngest nominee is Phil Foden.

He is joined by fellow forwards in Riyad Mahrez and Manchester City's new summer signing, Erling Haaland.

In midfield, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva also make the shortlist.

As for defence, Joao Cancelo is the only recipient of a 2022 nomination from Pep Guardiola's backline.

Manchester City's 2022/23 season is already underway.

The reigning Premier League champions got off to the perfect start as they defeated West Ham United in a 0-2 away from home victory on the opening weekend.

But while the English top-flight remains an obvious priority, the team will be hoping to achieve even greater things.

The Champions League is the one trophy that has eluded the club since their Abu Dhabi takeover.

It is also a title that has evaded Pep Guardiola ever since he left FC Barcelona earlier in his career, despite knock-out stage success with Bayern Munich and now at Manchester City.

Following the signing of Erling Haaland, many at the club will now be hoping they have the attacking threat to add to their power elsewhere on the field.
